Bus Maintenance

What we do
Ensuring a long life span of our bus fleet through maintenance

Bus Maintenance

Pre-trip Inspection: Every Bus Driver must perform a pre-trip on the bus. The purpose is to ensure that the vehicle is road worthy and it is in good condition. All defects on the bus are reported and repaired in the workshop.

An external visual inspection is performed by the driver on the bus before leaving the depot. This checklist inspection covers the bus body, tyres and includes checks such as fire extinguishers and triangle. Any damage or problem is noted and reported to the workshops to be rectified.

Preventative Maintenance: Litsamaiso has a fleet of 131 buses i.e. 40 Articulated buses and 91 Rigid buses.

  • Litsamaiso has developed preventative maintenance programme whereby vehicles go through a range of different inspections and services based on kilometres.
  • On a daily basis buses are washed, refuelled, oil, water and tyre checks are conducted and reported defects are repaired in the workshop prior to the bus being sent to the shift.

A-Service

All Litsamaiso buses undergo weekly safety inspections. During this safety inspection all critical safety components are checked.

This inspection is done according to the 101 point-checklist that is completed and signed off by a foreman and signed off by technical analyst and the Technical Manager.

Any component found to be defective, is immediately replaced or repaired, before that bus is allowed to back to the road.

B-Service

After every 20,000km is completed each bus goes in for a B-Service. The B-Service takes approximately half a day to complete and is done according to a 127 point checklist.

Once completed the bus is checked by foreman and it is signed off by a technical analyst and the Technical Manager.

This service entails the changing of lubricants, filters, as well as close inspection (and repair the defects that are found) of mechanical, electrical and body components.

C-Service

After every 60,000km every bus undergoes a C-Service. This is a major service that takes one day to complete. This service is done according to a 185 point checklist.

Once completed the bus is checked by foreman and it is signed off by a technical analyst and the Technical Manager.

It includes contents of a B-Service plus a full evaluation of the (critical components) suspension, steering, braking and air systems, as well as oil changes of the transmission and axles.

D-Service

After every 180,000km every bus undergoes a D-Service. This is a major service that takes two days to complete.

It includes the contents of a B-Service and C-Service plus the replacement of certain B-units. This service is done according to a 190 point checklist.

Once completed the bus is checked by foreman and it is signed off by a technical analyst and the Technical Manager.
